HOW TO SHAVE YOUR HEAD

HOW TO SHAVE YOUR HEAD

Whether you’re looking for a new style or trying to fight the receding hairline, when shaving your head there are some aspects to keep in mind which I want to share with you in this post.

Shaving your heard follows the same steps as shaving the beard in addition to taking two extra measures. First use a hand held mirror to see the back of your head. Second be gentle on the blade. The skin on your head is more sensitive than that of your beard.

PREPARATION

Start by inspecting the growth direction of the hair. This is important because you want to shave first with the grain. If your skin can take it, you can have a second pass shaving against the grain.
The head can roughly be divided in two areas that intersect at the crown. There the direction of hair growth changes. The first area is from the crown to the front of your head. The second starts at the crown and goes all the way down to the back of your neck.
If you have lots of hair, start by trimming it down using clippers. Then wash the head with warm water to soften the hairs and apply shaving cream.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL…

The tricky part to shave is the back of your head. Use a handheld mirror to see what is going on. Keep in mind that the perception of your motion on the mirror is different. So you might have to get used to applying proper strokes. Avoid the random strokes and use long straight strokes instead to avoid missing any spot. Keep in mind that the skin on your head is more sensitive, so do not apply too much pressure on the blade.

AFTER THE SHAVE

When you completed shaving your head, rinse well with cold water and inspect your head using your hand for any sports you might have missed. When your head is clean shaven apply a balm to moisturize and nourish your skin.
